A huge part of the work that went into QMap centred around the overlays.
The ergonomics are central to QMap's ease of use and each device's unique layout was used to best advantage.
Button combinations were created with as many one-handed actions implemented as possible.
One of QMap's most important design goals was to create a surface layout and control logic
that would be quick to commit to memory, letting the user play the controller like an instrument;
just like a Large Format Analogue Console with a 'Mini Format' footprint!
The metallic text is definitely nice to look at - it's there for function too though:
it does a great job of reflecting screen light from a computer monitor to improve legibility in dimly-lit spaces.
